a way of building

Australian quarried sandstone veneer, 13th Beach, Victoria.

At Stone Society’s core, we approach building to prioritise the interconnectedness of all aspects of a community, not just the built space itself. This philosophy recognises that buildings are not isolated structures, but rather integral parts of the larger environment in which they, and we, exist.

A built thing imparts stored energy over time. When materials are formed or grown, they take on energy. When they are manipulated by the artists and makers whose intent and vibrations are poured into the work, they take on energy.

As people move around a space, they take on that building’s energy. They are subtly affected by everything that is put into the building process, seen and unseen.

There is an intangible life force that moves between us all like a mycelial web; we are by nature inextricably linked.

We look to build with kind, open hearts in hope that we are able to imbue the connectedness we can experience when we surround ourselves with the natural world into the spaces we are lucky to create.
